Charles Watkins

Biography

Charles Watkins (1895-1989) served as a private soldier with the 1/6th Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers, a Territorial unit headquartered in Rochdale. He fought with the 1/6th Lancs Fusiliers at Gallipoli.

Later he gained a commission with the Royal Air Force as a balloon observer.

Watkins survived the war, and wrote his Gallipoli memoir in 1970.
