We’re committed to providing you with high-quality military history titles. To help make our books accessible and keep costs down for you, we use a system called print-on-demand.
What is print-on-demand (POD)?
Print-on-demand, or POD for short, is a modern way of printing where books aren’t produced until an order actually comes in. This means, instead of us printing a large batch of books and keeping them in a warehouse, your book is printed specially for you, or as part of a small batch, only when you decide to buy it.
Benefits of print-on-demand
This approach has several good points, both for you and for us:
Lower costs: POD cuts down on the big upfront costs and risks that come with huge print runs. This lets us publish a wider variety of specialist titles that might not be affordable otherwise. These savings can then be passed on to you in the book's price.
Reduced postage costs: Books are printed at facilities close to where you live. This means shorter shipping distances, which leads to lower postage costs and quicker delivery.
Our print-on-demand partners
We work with two main print-on-demand services:
Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) via Amazon: This is for books you order directly from any Amazon website.
IngramSpark: This service helps make our books available to bookstores, libraries, and other retailers.
What if there’s a printing defect?
Even though print-on-demand technology is pretty advanced and usually makes great quality books, now and then a printing defect can happen. This could be things like a problem with the binding, pages printed wrongly, or smudged ink. We know it’s a let-down to get a book that’s not up to scratch.
Resolving printing defects
Orders from Amazon (KDP): Amazon is very efficient at sorting out returns and replacements for defective items. If you get a book from Amazon with a printing problem, ask for a replacement or a refund through your Amazon account.
Go to your order history in your Amazon account.
Find the order and choose the option to return or replace the item.
Follow the instructions, letting them know the book is defective. Amazon will offer you a full refund or send you a new copy.
Orders through bookstores or libraries: If you’ve bought one of our titles from a bookstore or borrowed it from a library and you find a printing defect, things work a bit differently.
Your first port of call should be the bookstore or library where you got the book. They’ll have their own ways of handling returns and exchanges.
If you don’t get satisfaction, please contact us.
Our commitment to quality
We really want you to be pleased with your book. While our partners manage the actual printing, we take quality issues very seriously.
If you run into any bother with a defective book and you can’t get it sorted through Amazon or the retailer you bought it from, please get in touch.
